Dr. Jung-Il Moon will be participating in the Stem Cell COREdinates

Dr. Jung-Il Moon, Coordinator of the Neuroscience Cell Engineering Core Facility, will be participating in the Stem Cell COREdinates on November 29-30, 2017, in New Jersey. Stem Cell COREdinates is a consortium of human pluripotent stem cell-focused core facilities that have joined forces to share our experiences and expertise with protocols, reagents, and to establish “best practices.” This open line of communication makes our member laboratories stronger, ultimately benefitting our client laboratories. One outcome of our efforts is a collection of protocols that are publicly available on Stembook.org and here on our protocol page.

Three-day hands-on iPS Culture Training Course

The Neuroscience Cell Engineering core of PIIN is now up and running with several exciting projects initiated. The core coordinator Dr. Jung-II Moon offered a three-day hands-on iPS Culture Training Course to 7 participants this past November 16 to 21st. The following departments were represented: Biomedical Engineering, Psychological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology. This course will be available to the larger Purdue community in the near future.

Expanding Life Sciences: Purdue University

Purdue University is a major leader in the life sciences with emphasis on the biological sciences. With their recent $250 million investment in the life sciences, Purdue has created three new Life Sciences Institutes that build upon their strength in the biological sciences. At the Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience (PIIN), researchers are leveraging the university’s expertise in neuroscienceand engineering to unravel the mysteries of the brain. Spanning 25 departments across six colleges, Purdue’s neuroscience enterprise includes more than 100 faculty engaged in neuroscience-related research. The institute’s role is to encourage and exploit synergies across disciplines on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus.
