Visiting Professor Fall 2014: Meet Dr. Doug Paddon-Jones

Dr. Paddon-Jones is a Professor of Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He has undergraduate degrees in Medical Imaging and Physiology from the Queensland Institute of Technology and the University of Queensland, a master's degree in Exercise Physiology from Ball State University and a PhD in Human Movement Studies from the University of Queensland.

He was a recipient of the Vernon R. Young International Award for Amino Acid Research and currently serves as Director of the Nutrition and Metabolism Laboratory in the School of Health Professions and a Senior Fellow of the Sealy Center on Aging. Reseqarch in teh Paddon-Jones Lab focuses on teh refulation of muscle mass and function in healthy and clinical pupulations. Recent studies have examined topics including exercise, nutrition, the sarcopenia of aging and the physiology of physical inactivity.
