Indiana Director of Forest Conservation - The Nature Conservancy

The Director of Forest Conservation is a leadership position that will influence how that is done and combine ecological knowledge, persuasive communication, and an understanding of business principles to advance forest conservation in Indiana. They will establish the Conservancy as a major conservation partner within forestry; define conservation priorities; lead and manage a dedicated team to support and improve forest conservation efforts; and build strategic, scientific, and technical capacity in the field. Postdoctoral Scholar in Food Systems, Technology & Sustainability Science

Applications are being accepted for a postdoctoral scholar to work on a collaborative research effort between Dr. Jennifer Jo Thompson at the University of Georgia, Dr. Meredith Niles at The University of Vermont, and Dr. Ankita Raturi at Purdue University. This position involves developing interdisciplinary knowledge and skills related to the practical, sociocultural, and policy-level barriers to cover crop adoption. It is part of a USDA-funded, multi-state project that aims to enhance water and food security through improved adoption and management of cover crops nationally. More info here.

Undergrad Assistant - IL IN SeaGrant, Coastal and Great Lakes Social Science Lab

Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant and the Coastal and Great Lakes Social Science Lab is looking for an undergraduate assistant to help with several research projects. The assistant will help researchers in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources collect data for meta-analyses on topics related to aquatic ecology and aquaculture regulations. Climate Data Programmer (2 Positions) - Midwest Regional Climate Center

Under the guidance of the MRCC / Indiana State Climate Office Director, this position will build scientific decision-support and informational tools, modify and enhance pre-existing code and scripts at the MRCC, and work with climate data for the MRCC website, presentations, and relevant reports. Discovery Park Undergraduate Research Internship Program

Discovery Park will periodically post new research projects as part of the Discovery Park Undergraduate Research Internship (DURI). The DURI program provides opportunities for undergraduate students to work with Discovery Park and C4E-affiliated faculty on cutting-edge research in the areas of global security, health, and sustainability. Click here for more information.

EPA P3 Student Design Competition

The People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) Student Design Competition is an exciting contest supported by the EPA and open to teams of undergraduate and/or graduate students. The contest provides up to $25,000 per university undergraduate/graduate team who presents a proof-of-concept design solution for a multi-year project that addresses a sustainability challenge in one of four broad research areas:

  1. Improvement of Air Quality
  2. Clean and Safe Water
  3. Sustainable and Healthy Communities
  4. Chemical Safety

Purdue submitted 3 proposals for consideration in 2021, and EPA funding decisions will be announced soon (early 2022). Keep an eye out for the 2022 competition announcement!
