Call for Faculty Project Proposals - DUIRI Fall 2025

The Discovery Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Internship (DUIRI) program invites Purdue-West Lafayette faculty to submit project proposals for the Fall 2025 session. DUIRI provides undergraduate students the opportunity to engage in hands-on interdisciplinary research under faculty mentorship.

Faculty are encouraged to propose research projects that align with one or more of Discovery Park’s three themes:

  • Global Security

  • Global Health

  • Global Sustainability

🗓️ Important Dates:

  • Proposal Submission Deadline: June 6, 2025

  • Student Applications Open: June 30 – July 14, 2025

  • Student Selection Deadline: July 25, 2025

  • Fall Session Duration: August 25 –December 13 2025

Summer 2025: DUIRI Session Runs from May 19 to August 8

This summer's DUIRI session features 16 faculty-led projects:

  • Global Health – 7 projects

  • Global Sustainability – 7 projects

  • Global Security – 2 projects
    A total of 18 students have been selected to participate.

Key Summer 2025 Dates & Deliverables

  • April 28, 2025 – Learning Contracts Due (Students will send the completed contract to duiri@purdue.edu)

  • July 10, 2025 – Deadline to Apply for the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium

  • July 28 – August 1, 2025 – Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium

  • August 5, 2025 – Post Abstract on DUIRI e-Pubs Site

  • August 5, 2025 – Abstract and Poster Due (Email to duiri@purdue.edu)

Learning Contract

The learning contract is used to establish clear expectations between DUIRI students and mentors.
Summer commitment: 40 hours/week.

The Fellowship

Students will receive a $5,000 fellowship, distributed in biweekly installments throughout the summer, provided all program requirements are met.

(Not applicable to students receiving academic credit for the experience.)
