Resources Overview

The Drug Discovery facility provides facilities for organic synthesis, cell culture, analytical chemistry, molecule purification, biochemistry, molecular biology and fluorescent imaging.  Core facilities located within the building include the high-throughput screening and chemical genomics, NMR, and mass spectrometry facilities.

Our researchers also use other facilities on campus to pursue drug discovery and delivery, including commercialization.

Bindley Bioscience Center

Since it opened in 2005, the Bindley Bioscience Center has sparked numerous life science and bioscience research collaborations with state, regional, national and international industry partners. Open, flexible laboratories offer core research capabilities for drug discovery efforts in biomolecular technologies, computational life sciences and informatics, molecular biophysics, bionanotechnology, metabolomics, cytomics, imaging and translational pharmacology. An integrated screening lab combines diverse technologies for robotic and automated analyses of drug-like compounds, microbial diversity and biomolecular interactions. A skywalk connecting Bindley to Birck Nanotechnology Center facilitates bionanotechnology research. In 2014, the Multidisciplinary Cancer Research Facility was added on to Bindley in order to enhance drug discovery and disease research capabilities on campus by integrating scientific expertise from the molecular level through animal disease modeling.

Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship

The Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship in Discovery Park stimulates entrepreneurship in the Purdue community and serves as a resource for the citizens of Indiana and beyond. Researchers interested in commercializing their intellectual property can receive help in evaluating market potential, translating initial concepts to practice, obtaining domestic and foreign patent protection, writing a business plan, attracting venture capital, and hiring a CEO and staff. Since it opened in 2004, the center has helped launch several successful companies based on drug discovery research at Purdue.

Arthur G. Hansen Life Sciences Research Building

The Hansen Life Sciences Research Building houses the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center. Multidisciplinary laboratory spaces stretch across four floors. The building also houses the Transgenic Mouse Core Facility, the Bioscience Imaging Facility, an NMR facility and an animal facility, all of which support the drug discovery efforts at Purdue.
