Research Interests

Carbon and nitrogen cycling, soil sequestration, greenhouse gas emission and water quality impacts of intensively and extensively managed agriculture including maize-based and emerging, dedicated bioenergy cropping systems and native prairies. Tensions and trade-off among non-provisioning ecosystem services as influenced by management and technology. Root/soil interrelationships and nutrient accumulation patterns for Indiana cropping systems. Indigenous soil potassium, fertilizer-potassium use efficiency, and potassium balance in Indiana maize and soybean production. Development of the scientific foundations for improved fertilizer recommendation protocols for Indiana cropping systems.
