Mike Poderycki joined the Bindley Bioscience Center in 2019 and leads its Discovery to Innovation Accelerator. His goal is to ensure that basic research findings at Purdue in the life sciences and in fields that intersect with the life sciences are translated into practical solutions for real-world problems. This includes 1) Identifying and focusing on faculty-led research projects with commercialization potential, 2) assisting faculty in obtaining clear “proof of concept” or application data, or otherwise facilitating moving projects down a commercialization path, and 3) working with colleagues at the Foundry and Office of Technology Commercialization to increase the number of early-stage life sciences opportunities ready to be funneled into the entrepreneurship/licensing process. Mike received his PhD at UCLA in Biological Chemistry from the laboratory of Leonard Rome and did his post-doctoral work with Toshi Kawakami at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology. Subsequently, he worked in the biotech industry at Cook Group and Thermo Fisher Scientific, leading R
