Ebert selected as interim director for CERIAS in Discovery Park

October 29, 2018

David Ebert, Silicon Valley Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue, will serve as interim director of Discovery Park's Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security, effective Nov. 1. CERIAS is widely considered as one of the world's leading centers for research and education in areas of information security that are crucial to the protection of critical computing and communication infrastructure. A multifaceted approach combines technical strength with ethical, legal, educational, economic, linguistic and communication expertise to create a cross-disciplinary team composed of six colleges and more than 20 departments across the Purdue campus.

Purdue trustees ratify eight named faculty, two named spaces

October 12, 2018

The Purdue University Board of Trustees on Friday (Oct. 12) ratified eight named faculty positions and the recent appointments of the university’s executive vice president for communication and vice president for human resources. Trustees also issued a resolution of appreciation for friends of the university, including two whose names will be added to campus facilities. Including Dr. Chad Jafvert, who was named the Lyles Family Professor in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering; and Dr. Ernest (Chip) Blatchley, who was named the Lee A. Rieth Professor in Environmental Engineering.

Three faculty members have been designated Showalter Faculty Scholars for 2018, including Dr. Ellen Wells, Health Sciences for her project: "Metal Contamination and Children's Health in East Chicago." Congratulations to all the Showalter Awardees.

Discovery Park's tagline, "Where disciplines converge to solve global challenges," gains real-world application through international partnerships. Tomás Díaz de la Rubia, Discovery Park's chief scientist and executive director, spoke Tuesday (June 12) to members of Peru's Congress as part of one such partnership -- presenting the mission of Discovery Park and an overview of the Arequipa NEXUS Institute for food, energy, water and the environment.

Purdue, Peruvian university kick off research and innovation alliance

Purdue University celebrated the official start of its new Cooperative Technical Alliance Program with the Universidad Nacional de San Agustin (UNSA) with the launch of its initial flagship research and capacity building initiative: the Arequipa Nexus Institute for Food, Water, Energy, and the Environment. The celebration took place Monday (April 9) at Purdue.

Purdue University and the Purdue Research Foundation signed a strategic research and commercialization alliance on Tuesday (Oct. 31) with the Universidad Nacional de San Agustí­n (UNSA) in the Arequipa region of Peru to accelerate the development of sustainable solutions to the linked socioeconomic and environmental challenges impacting use and supply systems for the region’s food, water and energy.
