The toolkit is a document created by the USDA that identifies and describes technical and financial resources developed by urban farmers, federal and city government agencies, and local organizations that address considerations for new urban farmers.

Urban Farm Business Plan

The Urban Farm Business Plan Handbook made by EPA-United States Environmental Protection Agency- provides guidance for developing a business plan for the startup and operation of an urban farm. It focuses on food and non-food related cultivated agriculture. The information provided is applicable regardless of whether the farm is to be operated as a non-profit or for-profit business.

The Gary Urban Farmer’s Initiative

The Gary Urban Farmer’s Initiative is a group of Gary Farmers who are building capacity in Gary to help fight food deserts, provide healthy local food to the citizens of Gary and NW Indiana. As part of our efforts, we will be hosting a 12-week training class that will cover the basic to advanced training on the topic of urban agriculture and various techniques of growing.
