Can international students receive aid? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although need-based financial aid isn\u2019t typically available to students who do not meet citizenship requirements for federal student aid<\/a>, merit-based financial aid may be available for both undergraduate and graduate students from private sources. Loans may be available to both undergraduate and graduate students who have a U.S. citizen co-signer. These loan amounts are limited to the estimated cost of attendance minus any other resources you may have; in other words, you can only receive enough aid to cover the estimated cost of attendance<\/a>. The Division of Financial Aid determines eligibility for the private loan programs<\/a><\/strong> by certifying the application submitted through the private lenders. For additional information about private loans available for international students visit InternationalStudent.com loan search<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Listed below are two application tools that allow you to compare loan details from multiple private loan lenders. Both tools include the lender\u2019s application conditions and \u201cTruth in Lending\u201d disclosure information. Not all lenders participate in both tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compare your options using the I<\/strong>NvestEd Marketplace<\/a> or ELMSelect<\/a><\/strong> to see which lenders best match your needs. Each private loan\/lender is different. Please review the requirements of each specific loan to learn how to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial Aid Citizenship Requirements <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To be eligible for federal, state of Indiana and Purdue need-based aid eligibility, a student must be a U.S. citizen or \u201celigible\u201d non-citizen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a non-citizen to be eligible for financial aid consideration, the student must possess a valid Alien Registration Card I-551 or I-151, be classified as a conditional permanent resident with a valid I-151C Registration Card or have a passport or I-94 (Arrival\/Departure Record) showing one of the following designations: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
