Summer study-abroad trips can be a great way to get ahead in classes while exploring new cultures. Find out how the DFA can assist in making summer study abroad affordable while receiving <strong>summer term financial aid<\/strong> below. This will be available on your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wl.mypurdue.purdue.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>myPurdue<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;account under the \u201cFinancial Aid\u201d Tab beginning in February.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Summer financial aid notifications will begin in April. Applications received after this time will be processed within 1-2 weeks of the date of submission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find and apply for the program of your choice&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/IPPU\/SA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on the Study Abroad website<\/a>, and register for your courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"study-abroad-requirements\">Requirements<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All students must have the following documents on file before&nbsp;summer&nbsp;aid can be processed:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A&nbsp;current&nbsp;FAFSA unless the student will utilize private loan(s) only.&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete any requests for\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/contact\/policiesappeals\/#verification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>additional information<\/strong><\/a> for your FAFSA file. The Division of Financial Aid will notify you of any requests, such as a student or parent tax return transcript. A student\u2019s financial aid eligibility for the Aid Year and summer can change based on enrollment fluctuations in either summer, fall or spring.\u202f<strong>It is important to confirm with the Division of Financial Aid about how any changes to summer or Academic Year enrollment will affect a student\u2019s overall aid eligibility before a student commits to those changes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I borrow Federal Direct Loans in Summer?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, but students must request to do so directly through their&nbsp;myPurdue&nbsp;accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if I change my enrollment after receiving my Financial Aid Award notification?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Enrollment change could affect aid eligibility across summer, fall and spring. As aid is put together for all three terms at once, enrollment changes in any of the applicable terms could affect a student\u2019s overall aid eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if I am graduating in August (Summer graduation)?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Students graduating in August will still need to file both a&nbsp;<strong>current&nbsp;FAFSA<\/strong>&nbsp;and a&nbsp;<strong>Summer Aid Application<\/strong> found in <a href=\"https:\/\/wl.mypurdue.purdue.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">myPurdue<\/a>&nbsp;for any summer aid consideration. When a student completes the Summer Aid Application, they will be able to&nbsp;indicate&nbsp;they are graduating in August; our office will then calculate aid eligibility for the&nbsp;summer&nbsp;term only. If our office requests <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/contact\/policiesappeals\/#verification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">additional&nbsp;information<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;after&nbsp;a student has filed the FAFSA, they will need to complete those requests before any financial aid eligibility information can be calculated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"polytechnic-aid-eligibility\">Summer Aid Eligibility<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The following information can assist in determining what&nbsp;types of aid&nbsp;a student may be eligible to receive in the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1-5 credit hours:&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pell Grant Eligibility:&nbsp;<\/strong>Undergraduate students who meet eligibility requirements may receive the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/understand-aid\/types\/grants\/pell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Federal Pell Grant<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;in the summer.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Institutional Gift Aid:&nbsp;<\/strong>Some limited institutional gift aid is available to students for their&nbsp;summer&nbsp;enrollment. This availability is dependent on limited funding as well as a student\u2019s&nbsp;demonstrated&nbsp;financial need through the FAFSA. Institutional summer gift aid is also subject to change.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Private&nbsp;Loans:&nbsp;<\/strong>Students&nbsp;enrolled less than half-time may be able to access a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Private Loan<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;to cover their expenses. Institutional summer gift aid is also subject to change.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Federal Direct\u202fLoan Eligibility:&nbsp;<\/strong>Students can request&nbsp;to&nbsp;utilize&nbsp;their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Federal Direct Loan<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;eligibility for the&nbsp;summer&nbsp;term through their&nbsp;myPurdue&nbsp;accounts by completing the &#8220;Federal Direct Loan Adjustment Request.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Federal PLUS Loan:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>PLUS Loans<\/strong>\u202f<\/a>can be taken out to cover the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/cost\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/cost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Cost of Attendance<\/strong>\u202f<\/a>minus other aid awarded\/offered. However, these loans require a check for adverse credit, and therefore not all applicants are approved.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Important Information:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students must meet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/manage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Satisfactory Academic Progress<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;requirements.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financial aid is based on the number of credit hours and summer modules in which a student is enrolled AND has initiated course participation as of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/contact\/policiesappeals\/#pellrecalculation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pell Recalculation\u202fdate<\/a>. Check out more information about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/contact\/policiesappeals\/#ICP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>initial course participation<\/strong>.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"purdue-accordion-wrap  purdue-accordion-wrap--small\">\n    <div class=\"section has-none-background has-padding-top-none has-padding-bottom-none\">\n        <div class=\"container\">\n            <div class=\"purdue-accordion has-no-bottomborder\">\n                <h3 class=\"accordion__heading purdue-accordion__title  purdue-accordion__title--small\" id=\"title-14a7e68e-2dff-4ef6-a441-11f06059f558\">\n                    <button aria-controls=\"content-14a7e68e-2dff-4ef6-a441-11f06059f558\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><strong>Summer Aid: Temporary Regional Campus Transfer\u00a0<\/strong><\/button>\n                <\/h3>\n                <div class=\"accordion__content purdue-accordion__content\" id=\"content-14a7e68e-2dff-4ef6-a441-11f06059f558\">\n                    \n\n<p>Students seeking a degree at Purdue West Lafayette (PWL) who plan to enroll at a Purdue Regional campus (i.e.,&nbsp;Purdue Northwest-PNW, Purdue Fort Wayne-PFW) on a temporary basis for the summer term may be eligible to receive&nbsp;summer&nbsp;aid through Purdue West Lafayette.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All fee-dedicated aid, such as Child of Disabled\/Deceased Veteran (CDV) fee remissions and staff-dependent fee remissions, will be processed by the Regional Campus you will be attending. If a separate application and\/or documentation is&nbsp;required, it must be&nbsp;submitted&nbsp;to the Regional Campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Students attending a Regional Campus are&nbsp;<strong>ONLY<\/strong>\u202feligible for&nbsp;federal aid&nbsp;consideration. This aid eligibility includes the following:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/understand-aid\/types\/grants\/pell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Federal Pell Grant<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Federal Direct Loan<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dfa\/aid\/loans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Federal&nbsp;PLUS Loans<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;pending credit approval&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At least half-time enrollment is required to utilize&nbsp;Federal Direct and Federal&nbsp;PLUS Loans.
