Finding that work-life balance
Think work and college don’t pair together well? Think again. During her freshman year, Kayla Dunbar discovered that a college job isn’t just a way to boost finances, but also can be a way to enhance skills that you are learning in the classroom.
“I wanted to gain experience working with young children, and I also wanted an income to pay for my expenses,” she says. “So working at the school was a perfect way to get the best of both worlds.”
Kayla has now worked at the Ben and Maxine Miller Child Development Laboratory School at Purdue for over one year now. As a double major in elementary education and special education, she has gained an invaluable resume boost working with children from six weeks to five years old.
