Partnerships

Rendering of the Convergence building

Corporate partners are invited to participate in Purdue’s Integrative Data Science Initiative through collaboration with faculty, data science student internships and partnerships that can define and differentiate data science advances in focused domain areas.

Purdue’s Integrative Data Science Initiative (IDSI) will address major sectors of strategic importance to the global economy such as aerospace, agriculture, automotive/mobility, defense, energy, financial services, healthcare delivery, information technology, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, retail, social media, & telecom. The development and rapid application of advanced data science and analytics methods is a key focus area of the initiative.

Faculty-Industry Collaboration Spaces

The epicenter of translating data science into applications at Purdue is the Convergence Center for Innovation and Collaboration. Located in the Discovery Park District, the innovative facility offers private space for our corporate partners, as well as space for startups, research teams of Purdue students and faculty, and shared co-creation areas. Purdue’s award-winning startup incubator, the Foundry, resides in the center.

Value to Corporate Partners

  • Interaction with Purdue undergraduate and graduate students through minority programs, data science internships and co-ops, fellowships, case competitions, campus job fairs, and many other initiatives.
  • Collaboration with Purdue’s leading data science researchers through membership in the key data science related centers.
  • Benefits from joint basic research on common interests defined by the partners, with preferential access to the resulting IP.
  • Direct benefit from private applied research on topics defined by the partner, with IP only available to the partner.
  • Monetization/commercialization of IP from research through the Purdue Foundry ecosystem.
  • Space in the new Convergence Center, the hub building for the Data Science corporate members and students, the data science Foundry eco-system, and for start-ups.

Partnerships Mission of the IDSI

  • Co-inspire the integration of data science education across all disciplines.
  • Engage students in the data science challenges of the private and public sectors.
  • Prepare students for successful careers.
  • Perform research that develops significant advances and breakthroughs of value to society.
  • Apply and commercialize research through innovative partnerships among students, companies, and faculty co-located in the Convergence Center.
