St. Patrick’s Day

Sunday, March 17, 2013

From all the members of the SCC we wish you all a great St. Patricks day, and hope you have a safe, but epic time tonight!

In celebration we have complied a list of Irish Songs! Some will surprise you…

1) “Drunken Sailer” by The Irish Rovers

I’m pretty sure this song needs no explanation as to why it’s on our list, what could be more Irish than a “Drunken Sailor”?

2) “Whiskey in The Jar” By Metallica

As one of the best bands in the world, Metallica had to make our list. Fortunately for us they covered The Dubliners and sang about Whiskey.

3) “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison

Van Morrison, an Irish native is known for his hit “Brown Eyed Girl”. This song solidified it’s spot in music history by being placed in the Grammy Hall of Fame and even took the 110th spot in Rolling Stone Magazine’s top 500 songs of all time. To top it all off, this song has been referred to as one of the songs that shaped rock n roll.

Now that’s a mighty large honor.

4) “Boys Are Back in Town” by Thin Lizzy

Yet another iconic Irish made band with another iconic song, “Boys Are Back in Town”.

5) “Beautiful Day” by U2

It wouldn’t be an Irish playlist without U2. Both loved and hated, this band is the most known thing that has come from Ireland — well, besides Guinness. Oh Bono.
