Red Baraat Connects People Through Music

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

Sunny Jain of Red Baraat composed 100+ BPM for an NPR Music Field Recording at the Brooklyn Public Library with 350 musicians. His band will lead the Opening Night Dance Party this Friday, September 16. Watch and listen how Jain’s work “burst to life when all those musicians came out to play.”

The footage and music featured in this piece were created by NPR Music and Red Baraat on Make Music Day, June 21, 2014. 350 people gathered for the first time to play a song that Sunny Jain composed specifically for this NPR Field Recording. No one in the crowd had performed the song before. And these 350 people had never played together. No one knew if people would show up or how it would sound. But it did work and sounds (as you can hear) great! The joy, community and energy you see in this video are from an authentic experience showing people truly connecting through music.
