“In the chamber music world they are rock stars.”
– Chamber Music America
At any given time, David Finckel and Wu Han collaborate on about 20 projects—not the least of which is their multi-decade marriage. They met in 1981 when pianist Wu Han performed alongside the Emerson String Quartet, with which Finckel performed as cellist for 34 seasons. Together, Finckel and Wu Han have created a global network of residencies, festivals, and recordlabels, chamber-music momentum as artistic directors at Lincoln Center, and a live repertoire that earned them Musical America’s “2012 Classical Musicians of the Year” honors. Among their genre’s top “artrepreneurs,” Finckel and Wu Han capitalize on chemistry in both romance and in their “deep, life-giving music” (Chicago Tribune).
