“Of all the vocal-driven ensembles in the world of contemporary music, there is none as compelling or beckoning as Banda Magda.”
World Music Report

Banda Magda has yet to meet a musical style into which it can’t slide with seamless skills. A samba groove gives way to beautifully polyphonic French chansons, with journeys into lively Greek folk, percussive Afro-Peruvian landó, and more. Founded in 2010 by Greek-born composer, orchestrator, singer, and accordionist Magda Giannikou, Banda Magda has toured in more than 22 countries. Hailing from Argentina, Japan, Colombia, and the United States, this ensemble’s engaging romps earned them a spot on the Grammy®-winning album Family Dinner Vol. 1 from past Convos standouts Snarky Puppy. Jazz improvisations, cinematic arrangements, mid-century classics, and ballads in six different languages—it’s a big world, and Banda Magda brings it all to one stage.
