Organizational Leadership (B.S.)

A degree in organizational leadership offers a highly individualized, practical real-world approach to leadership, emphasizing quality, interpersonal skills and change implementation with a flexible curriculum that allows students to specialize in an area of technology. Students majoring in Organizational Leadership are required to complete one of five technical focus specializations. Areas of technical focus specialization are Advanced Manufacturing, Biometrics, Coding (Computer Information Technology), Electronics, Emerging Technologies.

Organizational Leadership majors develop critical skills and practical knowledge necessary to direct and lead technology-rich organizations towards reaching their goals. Organizational Leadership students learn how to develop and implement sound technology strategies, examine the impact of technology policies, foster organizational change, and create synergistic environments. A student-selected focus provides immersion into specific technology areas like coding, computing systems, manufacturing, or web design. Leadership is the core of the organization leadership program, but the context is a curriculum of technological knowledge and application. Organizational Leadership graduates possess well-rounded competency in both technology and leadership essential to success in today’s competitive global economy.

Purdue University’s Organizational Leadership program is a source of professional talent for leadership positions in business, industry, government and many other organizations. Graduates find employment in general management, customer service, human resources management, sales and financial services. The manufacturing sector hires Organizational Leadership graduates in the areas of production control, production supervision and quality control. Some graduates choose careers in military service, sports management or hospital administration, while others choose to continue their education in advanced degree programs.
