CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS: Some HRS Data Reclassified - 10/9/08

Administrative data at the University are organized by the area responsible for it, and classified as “public,” “sensitive” or “restricted.”

Recently changes were made to the classification of Human Resource Services’ data affecting Employee Appraisal and Employee American Disability Act data. Previously this information was classified as “sensitive” but now is “restricted.”

Periodically, the Data Classification matrixes are updated to reflect changes in existing laws or new laws that govern how the University secures its data. These matrixes indicate how data are classified.

Staff are asked to review the Data Handling Guide to ensure their appropriate handling of restricted data, as well as other data. A summary of all Human Resource and Financial restricted data is also available online.
