PMO Adds New Project to Priority List - 07/13/10

The Project Management Office (PMO) on July 7 approved adding a new request for service to the Business Systems Projects in Progress list.

The project is “Proof of Concept for SAP Equipment Replacement (hardware),” part of the equipment replacement project currently occupying the No. 13 spot on the project list. Other details are:

     • Requested by: Jim Skiles, SAP integration manager, IT Enterprise Applications
     • Process owners: Ed Evans, director of software services, IT Systems and Operations
     • Business Systems Advisory Committee (BSAC) sponsor: Ed Evans
     • Business Systems Steering Committee (BSSC) sponsor: Mike Rubesch, executive director, IT Systems and Operations; and Doug Foster, executive director, IT Systems and Operations

     • Description of project: Before entering into an agreement for new hardware for SAP, HP will conduct a performance test of its proposed equipment at no charge to the University. HP will migrate ECC, SRM and BW production systems to its proposed platform, and then SSG will perform payroll simulation and BW load tests. They also will test 10-20 of the University’s most resource-intensive reports.
     • Proposed project timeline: HP will be on site from July 12 through approximately Sept. 3.

The Project Management Office is composed of representatives of most central support areas for business systems. Details about the project prioritization process are available in the Request and Prioritization Process document posted to the Business Systems Advisory Committee website. A new prioritized project list is posted to the BSAC site monthly. The latest priority list is dated July 6 and lists 54 projects.
