Student Trustee Application and Selection

One of the ten members of the Board of Trustees is a full-time student at Purdue.  He or she may be an undergraduate or graduate student on the West Lafayette, Purdue Fort Wayne (PFW), or Purdue Northwest (PNW) campus.  The student trustee is the student representative to the Board of Trustees, serves on the Board's Academic and Student Affairs Committee and Physical Facilities Committee, and has an equal vote on all actions taken by the Board.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Student Life oversees the application and interview process.  A search committee interviews the applicants and selects ten finalists to be interviewed by Governor Holcomb.  Governor Holcomb then selects the student trustee from the ten finalists and appoints him or her to serve a two-year term.  This resolution concerning the University process for selecting the student trustee was approved by the Board on August 26, 2016.

The term of our current student trustee, Daniel Romary, ends on June 30, 2019.  The next student will be appointed by Governor Holcomb on or about July 1, 2019 and serve until June 30, 2021.
