MISSION STATEMENT

We are a student-focused, peer-mentored, as-needed, educational community.
We provide the ability to complete projects through hands-on access
to a safe ecosystem of consultation, training, technologies, and processes.
We support students that want experience, demonstrate ability, and have passion.

STRATEGIC GOALS

ACCESS

Goal:
Welcome all Purdue students to use the Bechtel Center.

Outcomes:
Provide a safe ecosystem of consultation, training, and technology.
The full range of Purdue students use the facility safely and successfully.
Large, diverse, teams solving broad scope projects.

Objectives:

  • Comprehensive, accessible, training
  • Expanded capabilities
  • Address all barriers to entry, perceived and real
  • Meet the students on their schedule

MENTORSHIP

Goal:
Establish a safe, self-sustaining, peer-mentoring community.

Outcomes:
A peer-mentor culture that dynamically supports any Purdue student at any level of skill
Students learn through hands-on experience in a diverse community of makers while producing solutions to real-world challenges
Effective mentorship creates new mentors

Objectives:

  • Strengthen and sustain peer community
  • Peer-mentor training
  • Increase the number of sources of mentors
  • Recognize mentorship

IMPACT

Goal:
Produce students with curiosity, drive, and experience to change the world.

Outcomes:
Students who have combined theory and practice to solve problems
Trained in a culture of safety
Recognized student teams: Awards, accolades, press releases, publications
Entrepreneurial endeavors.
Social impact projects

Objectives:

SUSTAINABILITY

Goal:
Through a strong community of alumni and supporters, refresh and grow the peer-mentoring ecosystem.

Outcomes:
An engaged and diverse set of internal and external supporters
Get support to maintain and improve the community, ecosystem and its impact
Industrially relevant development and partnerships
