Arts and Activism Writers Workshop

In partnership with the Epsilon Rho chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Purdue Black Cultural Center is hosting an Arts & Activism workshop, led by award winning poet, activist and practicing contemplative, Manon Voice.

Manon will lead the workshop titled "Ars Poetica", translated as the "Art of Poetry". Voice will discuss the relevancy of poetry in turbulent times and the centrality of the poetic voice as being a form of resistance. Participants will hear a brief history on the role of poetry in the struggle of Black liberation and the brave poets that contributed their voice to its compendium. 

Workshop participants will also examine through the practice of writing and reciting, using their own voice to speak about issues they are passionate about.
