Professor Jay Gephart, the Al G. Wright Chair and Director of Bands at Purdue Bands & Orchestras, received the National Band Association Al & Gladys Wright Distinguished Legacy Award at the Midwest Band Clinic in Chicago. Jay received this award for his exceptional dedication to music education. Jay has been a faculty member at Purdue since 1995. Before that, he completed 12 years as a public school band director and has been an active member of numerous professional organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n

I am so honored by this award from the National Band Association,  an organization founded by our very own Al G. Wright.  I have had the opportunity to work with such amazing students during my 39 years of teaching. I hope my legacy is found in my passion for music and the act of sharing that passion with others.<\/em><\/p>\n\n <\/blockquote>\n
