Note: this is not your official, final placement \u2013 that only comes from Prof. Bodony.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students not currently enrolled in PBO: Please enroll&nbsp;for&nbsp;the exact ensemble you have been assigned by Prof. Bodony.&nbsp;If you have a scheduling conflict, please communicate with him to see if it can be approved or if another ensemble might work.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recording Process Instructions<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will not need anything more advanced than a smartphone to record. You&nbsp;are&nbsp;to play alone, without accompaniment.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At the beginning of your video,&nbsp;state&nbsp;your first and last name and the instrument you are playing. Example: \u201cHi, I\u2019m Adam Bodony, and I\u2019m auditioning on Viola&nbsp;d\u2019Amore.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure your face, hands, and fingerboard are visible as much as possible.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You MAY record etudes and scales separately and splice together, but each&nbsp;selection&nbsp;should itself be done in a single take.&nbsp;<strong>Submit only a single file,<\/strong>&nbsp;NOT separate files for each&nbsp;component&nbsp;of the audition.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not add any special audio effects or on-screen text. Use a copy of the &#8220;Lead Sheet\u201d to view the chord changes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bass<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Play the entire etude with appropriate Play Along Track (without Bass) as written with first chorus and then on 2nd chorus:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Solo if interested in Purdue Jazz Band (PJB) or American Music Repertory Ensemble (AMRE) consideration. If not, play just the 1 chorus and create a walking bassline over changes for 2nd chorus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Drums<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Play the written etude for the first 32 chorus (32 bars) with the appropriate Play Along Track (Rhythm Section without Drums). If auditioning for Purdue Tower of Power Band (ToP) consideration, pop songs are acceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>All Musicians<\/strong>: While improv is not required, anyone interested in showing their skills can improvise 1 chorus after playing the etude using the chord changes from appropriate &#8220;Lead Sheet.&#8221; The count off on the \u201cPlay-A-Long&#8221; is 3 bars. Lessons are scheduled on a semester basis.&nbsp;Various lesson packages are offered on a non-credit basis with a special lab fee based on the number of lessons scheduled.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are currently not offering our guitar or piano lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students who play at an advanced level and are interested in receiving 1 hour of academic credit may audition and then register for BAND 12000. Study with internationally recognized faculty, play with musicians from around the world, and gain leadership experience that will set you apart from the crowd. Most ensembles meet 2-3 times per week and perform twice a semester &#8211; the perfect time commitment for any student who wishes to continue playing in college. Even the Purdue \u201cAll-American\u201d Marching Band, which meets M-F during the fall semester, is doable alongside your academics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>To join Purdue Bands &amp; Orchestras, you will audition for ensemble placement and register for your assigned ensemble. Everyone auditions every semester, which allows for personal growth and flexibility with internships\/co-ops.
