Each year, Purdue Bands & Orchestras awards over $350,000 in scholarship support. With a department the size of 950+ students, we want to be sure no student is denied the opportunity to continue playing and performing at the collegiate level.
Incoming freshman have the opportunity to audition for the Leath Scholarship on the second Saturday of February. Purdue Bands & Orchestras hosts a day filled with auditions, campus tours and informational sessions. All scholarship offers will be made after March 1. Approximately 25-30 students are selected and between $1,000- $2,500 is awarded per student. This opportunity is open for instrumental students only.
Upperclassmen (sophomores-seniors) apply for scholarships via an online application form each semester. Selection is determined by the faculty. This opportunity is open to every student who is enrolled in one of our classes at the time applications are due.
Last year, 116 students received a scholarship from Purdue Bands & Orchestras, less than 14% of our population! Raising money for student scholarships will help us put students first, a Purdue Moves initiative—Student Affordability & Accessibility. To help support this, click here!
