Boiler Brass Auditions


2018-19 Boiler Brass Audition Information

Thank you for your interest in Boiler Brass, the Men’s Basketball Pep Band at Purdue University!

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Current enrollment in a Band/Orchestra course for credit, commitment to continued enrollment in a Band/Orchestra course next semester.  Candidates will be considered for a one-semester placement if the other semester is occupied by co-op, study abroad, student teaching, or graduation.

For this season, everyone planning to audition on woodwind, brass, or electric bass will need to prepare the required etudes for their instrument.  Guitar and drumset players will be asked to demonstrate a variety of styles, as well as play along with a track to be selected prior to the audition.

Trombone and Baritone BC

Baritone TC

Tuba / Bass Trombone

AUDITION SCHEDULE

Drum set and guitar candidates need to email conaway@purdue.edu with your availability for 9/24-9/26 and he will schedule you a a time.

For everyone else, the auditions will be conducted on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 from 1:00-10:00 PM and  TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 from 6:00-10:00 PM.  You may sign up for your audition on Professor Conaway’s office door (Elliott 34).  If neither of these times fit your schedule, you must email Professor Conaway (conaway@purdue.edu) no later than FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 to arrange another time.  Late auditions will not be allowed!

2018-19 INSTRUMENTATION

Instrumentation is TBD.  We know that many games this season will sell out, so we have to be careful with the size of the band.  Expect these numbers AT MINIMUM.

SEASON SCHEDULE

The most up-to-date schedule for the basketball season is always available at www.purduesports.com.  We will perform at all home basketball games (games over university holidays are optional but highly encouraged), and select groups will travel to post-season tournaments.  We will also cover one wrestling match, one baseball game, and some Partners in Music Education events.
