The Golden Girl

Purdue University’s Golden Girl ranks among the nation’s best twirlers at the top of her art form. Emily Cowette of Londonderry, NH is the 32nd Purdue Golden Girl. Emily serves as an ambassador for the “All-American” Marching Band and Purdue University. Emily is a sophomore in the College of Health and Human Sciences studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.

Recognized nationally for her unique talents, this coveted position has roots going back to the early history of Purdue Bands in 1954 when Lenny Dawson, star Boilermaker quarterback, was named “Golden Boy.” The band’s star twirler of course earned the title “Golden Girl.”
