Purdue’s athletic bands are a proud part of the university’s spirit organizations.
Structured more around tradition and perfection than any other pep band, Boiler Brass is an audition-only ensemble directed by Matt Conaway. Performing for audiences of up to 15,000 people every week, Boiler Brass is responsible for creating the exciting and energetic environment that is a trademark of Mackey Arena. If you love the experience of playing in a packed arena while watching a Purdue win over IU, Boiler Brass is happy to welcome you!
Gold & Black Sound
Under the direction of Dr. Pamela J. Nave, Gold And Black Sound (GABS) is the pep band for the Purdue Women’s Basketball team. The Gold Mine and GABS form the majority of students in attendance. An important part of the Purdue Women’s Basketball experience, GABS makes Mackey resonate with cheers and chants encouraging Coach Versyp and her team. If you enjoy Purdue Athletics and want to help the girls play to the fullest, this is the place for you!
Boiler Box Band
No one knows the Purdue Volleyball experience more than Boiler Box Band members. Under the direction of John Williams, Boiler Box Band makes Holloway Gym a spectacle to remember. Members not only play for the love of the game, but for the love of the players as well. It is not unheard of for Boiler Box Band members to have formed personal friendships with many of the girls on the court by the time they graduate. An important element of Purdue Athletics, Purdue Volleyball never ceases to amaze and achieve, and Boiler Box Band is always right there beside them.
