RECWELL MASTER PLAN
HULL FIELD UPGRADES
Purdue Bands and Orchestras is excited for the upcoming Outdoor Master Plan project, spearheaded by Recreation and Wellness.
The Vision
The vision for Gold Fields and Pickett Park is to consider these outdoor venues as a single destination that provide a variety of outdoor spaces and activities to meet a diverse student population with a wide range of recreational needs, while still allowing space for future campus initiatives. The proposed recreation facilities will operate more efficiently and utilize less space.
Upgrade Plans include:
- Convert Hull Drill Field to synthetic turf for use for Purdue “All-American” Marching Band
- Create the Jay Gephart Pavilion
- Add parking
- Convert natural grass fields to synthetic turf
- Add a flex turf area
- Add multi-use walks and trail loops
- Add pickleball courts
- Enhance Pickett Park
- Embrace Todd’s Creek and Enhance Wellbeing Space at Pickett Park
- Create a Sand Volleyball Complex
- Relocate football parking
- Improve disc golf
- Add practice fields
Honoring Jay Gephart
In addition to the synthetic turf and lighting on Hull Field, the sand volleyball courts adjacent to Hull Field will be removed and the space will be transformed into a social hub for the area. Not just a pavilion to enhance the intramural fields, this will be a pavilion available for the marching band to use for game day parent tailgates, sectional rehearsals, and other social gatherings. In honor of Professor Jay Gephart’s final year as the Director of the “All-American” Marching Band, we are asking for support from donors to celebrate Jay’s tenure with the marching band by naming the pavilion the Jay Gephart Pavilion.
