On October 9, 2015, Purdue President Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., announced Ever True: The Campaign for Purdue University.

“As we approach the 150th anniversary of Purdue’s founding, we are embarking on a campaign—Ever True—that will elevate our University’s reputation for research excellence and intellectual achievement in a new era of accountability in higher education. We invite the support of the entire Purdue family in this historic undertaking.” -Mitch Daniels, President of Purdue University

With a goal of $2.019 billion raised by 2019, Ever True is the largest fundraising effort in Purdue history. The campaign spans July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2019, concluding in the University’s 150th anniversary year.

Purdue Bands & Orchestras Campaign Priorities

Department Goal:  $10,000,000.00

Goal Left (as of 3/15/2017):  $3,041,692.00

Directorships

We believe that at the heart of every great institution of higher learning is top-notch instruction by exceptional leaders.  Purdue Bands & Orchestras has been blessed with outstanding leaders who have been shaping students’ lives and careers for more than 125+ years. Endowing a directorship(s) will help attract, retain, and reward the very best faculty member and leader to maintain our tradition of excellence.

Scholarships

With a department the size of 850+ students, we want to be sure no student is denied the opportunity to continue playing and performing at the collegiate level.  On average, over $350,000 is awarded annually to Purdue Bands & Orchestras students— that supports less than 14% of our population! Raising money for student scholarships will help us put students first – a Purdue Moves initiative.

Travel & Performance Opportunities

To help maintain our national and international travel reputation and to provide important travel experiences for our students, we must build upon our already existing travel endowment.  Additional resources would allow for rotating travel among all our performing groups at a lower cost to our students.  We want to be able to maintain our tradition of excellence outside of the classroom, while keeping participation costs low.

Purdue Bands & Orchestras Greatest Needs

Unrestricted gifts allow the department to support a wide variety of expenses as they arise. Gifts to this area help essential operating needs such as music rental fees, copy right and drill writing fees, performance venue rental fees, utility vehicle upkeep, student leadership training, and so much more.
