Purdue Bands & Orchestras has been providing curricular ensemble opportunities to the students of Purdue University for over 130 years. With no music majors at Purdue, our 1,200+ students span almost every discipline, spreading the optimistic spirit of Purdue Bands & Orchestras across campus. From world-renowned performances by over 30 different ensembles, including the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band, Purdue Bands & Orchestras is considered the “Heartbeat of the University” and encourages a lifelong journey with music.
Mission Statement: Purdue University Bands and Orchestras educates students in music through a performance-based curriculum which:
- cultivates knowledge and appreciation of the musical arts in order to function as intelligent musical consumers and advocates
- develops students as performers, listeners, and scholars
- provides musical performances to meet the entertainment, educational and social needs of the students, the university community, the state of Indiana and beyond
