Chair’s Corner – June 2018

Brittany ValeWelcome and thank you for taking some time to read the June Sentinel. I wanted to introduce myself as your new APSAC Chair for 2018-2019. My name is Brittany Vale, and I am the health information administrator for the Purdue Veterinary Teaching Hospital. I have been in that position for almost three years. I started at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital right after my college graduation; I was the coder in the Medical Records Department for 2.5 years. I ended up finding another opportunity and left the university for a year, but I was able to return to the same Medical Records Department as the supervisor. I truly love my job and I love the people with whom I get to work. Purdue University is a great community that offers so much to its employees and I am honored to be elected as your APSAC Chair.

Along with my new leadership appointment in APSAC, we are also welcoming a new group of APSAC members, and I am so excited to begin working with them. We have a great team put together and we are eager to start making positive changes for A/P staff.

As the new APSAC Chair, here are my goals for 2018-2019:

  • Improve communication internally within APSAC and externally with Purdue campuses
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to help assist with the HCM transition
  • Make APSAC a known resource on campus for A/P

If you have been on campus for the past year, you are aware there are changes afoot. Change can be a cause of anxiety, but change is inevitable for growth. We have some new faces, new policies, and new ideas here on campus, and this next year will be a big shift for everyone. APSAC is ready to get to work and embrace growth here at Purdue.
