Identity and Access Management

BoilerKey Two-Factor Authentication

The Purdue BoilerKey is a convenient means of significantly improving the security of protected computer systems. Activating BoilerKey is an implementation of two-factor authentication, a system that requires two forms of verification of identity before a person can access protected computer resources -- something that you have and something that you know.

Computer monitor with Login Screen, cellphone requesting permission from Duo, Computer monitor showing a checkmark and SUCCESS on the screen.

At Purdue, these two forms of verification are something you know (career account and either a password or PIN) and something you have (a BoilerKey token or the Duo Mobile application on your smartphone). These two items are used in place of your password alone to gain access to computer applications and systems.

You can request and configure BoilerKeys here.

Departments that are interested in using Boilerkeys in their area should contact ITaP's Identity and Access Management Office to discuss deployment options. If desired, a departmental administrator can be assigned to assist with deployment and Boilerkey support.

To request access to become a departmental administrator, please complete the BoilerKey Administrator Request Form and return it to the IAMO office via campus mail (at the address on the form).
