Previous Flora Roberts Award Winner

Presented to the most outstanding graduating female who has shown a commitment to scholarship, leadership, service and character. The honoree will have their name engraved on the MSEE obelisk and will additionally receive an engraved medallion and a monetary award.

2020 - Emily Sagstetter

Athletic Training

Sagstetter has represented Purdue with distinction in athletic training at the university and beyond. She has accumulated more than 1500 hours of hands-on experience with Purdue Athletics, Wabash College and Lafayette Jefferson and McCutcheon high schools. She has also had a case study published in the Journal of Athletic Training and completed a study abroad experience in Beijing, China.

On campus, Sagstetter has served as president of the Purdue Athletic Training Club. She has additionally served as a student senator for the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association and student representative to the Indiana Athletic Trainers Association. She was honored with the Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award by the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association and was the recipient of the Linda Weber Daniel Scholarship form the National Athletic Trainers Association Foundation.

Sagstetter has also served as a volunteer for Purdue Relay for Life, Winterization of Lafayette Community and Pete’s Pals.

2020 - Stephen Schwartz

Agribusiness and Agronomy

Named to Mortar Board as one of the top 40 graduating seniors at Purdue University, Schwartz has been involved in numerous organizations since setting foot on campus. He has served as the president of the Honor Pledge Task Force, a student-led organization committed to academic integrity and honesty. He also served on the Student Life Advisory Council. Schwartz received the Purdue Walk-The-Talk Award for Integrity and Character.

Schwartz has also been heavily involved in organizations through the College of Agriculture. He represented the university in the President’s Speech Competition at the National Agronomy meetings and helped lead the Agronomy Club back into the top three in the nation. He was honored as the College of Agriculture Outstanding Freshman of the Year and was named the Outstanding Sophomore by the Agronomy Department.

Schwartz will be a third-generation Purdue graduate in his family after completing a degree in agribusiness with a concentration in management this spring. He plans to pursue a master’s in plant physiology.
