Aaron&#8217;s area of expertise is related to query development using configurable joins and custom SQL as well as portal development. Aaron has a wealth of knowledge regarding Deliver email campaign messaging, template design, graphics, and overall system configurations. Raven is quickly learning the mechanics of Slate and will be managing Slate user roles, Graduate Program Requirements web pages, and many other functions of Slate. Slate roles are granted based upon core position responsibilities and require authorization from a department approver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slate users must complete the following&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventreg.purdue.edu\/WebCert\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Webcerts<\/a>&nbsp;prior to gaining access to Slate. Webcerts must be renewed yearly to maintain Slate access:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Protecting Social Security Numbers at Purdue University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Slate accounts are inactivated if a faculty\/staff member is no longer employed in a position involving recruitment and admissions activities. Slate accounts are inactivated after one year of no activity even if still employed in the position. Raw application data is available for a period of five years, and supporting documents are available for two years, for non-matriculating students. Matriculated student records are maintained in Slate indefinitely. For a complete guide to the OGSPS Retention policy <a href=\"\/academics\/ogsps\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Retention_Schedule-Graduate_OGSPS_2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If exporting data from Slate, proper data handling protocol and guidelines should be followed as described in detail at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/securepurdue\/data-handling\/index.php\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SecurePurdue Data Handling<\/a>. Completion of the Webcert for &#8220;Data Classification and Handling Educational Resources&#8221; is strongly advised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slate is not considered an official data repository and should not be used for official University data reporting purposes. Official University data should be requested from Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/idata\/products-services\/project-requests.php\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">IData Project Requests<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For access to Cognos, the tool used for official University reporting, visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/bicc\/data\/student\/access.php\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BICC Student Data Access<\/a>. A discussion board is also available for Slate help. If so, Slate offers a powerful email tool called &#8220;Deliver&#8221;. During the months of May and June, our Slate team updates the application for changes that go live in production on July 1.
