English Proficiency Requirements


  • This program accepts the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars basic requirements as described on the English Proficiency Requirements page.

Master's Degree Program Requirements: Traditional Program


  • A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 (based on a 4.0 system) with a Baccalaureate degree from accredited colleges and universities attended;

    1. Completion of the following behavioral science coursework:
      1. at least one course in psychology, sociology or anthropology;
      2. at least one course in American history, American government or economics;
      3. at least one course in human biology;
      4. at least one course in statistics

Master's Degree Program Requirements: Advanced Standing 


The advanced standing program is a shorter, more focused, plan of study (36 credit hours) for those who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work within the previous five years from a CSWE-accredited program, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above.

Criminal Background Checks

Criminal background checks are not part of the application process but will be required prior to enrollment in the MSW program, and may have an associated fee that will be the student’s responsibility. Note: criminal history does not automatically exclude an applicant from consideration for admission into the MSW program.
