The issue isn\u2019t whether we will encounter conflicts but how we handle them. Conflict Competence is crucial to aid in navigating cultural, social and political differences, while decreasing the risk of adverse consequences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Purdue created three SELF-GUIDED training modules to promote effective communication and understand and resolve disagreements. The HRBP will collaborate with the employee, strategizing potential ways to resolve concerns. Meetings are confidential (in most circumstances) and will only be shared with others with the employee\u2019s agreement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each college has an assigned HR Business Partner. <strong>To locate your HR Business Parter, go <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/hr\/aboutus\/hrteams.php\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/hr\/aboutus\/hrteams.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>. <\/strong>Send them an email to request a meeting and wait to describe your situation verbally, which is just good practice for sensitive matters. Alternatively, if your HR Business Partner has a shared calendar, you can directly schedule a meeting in an open space. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"\/academics\/ogsps\/academics\/office-of-graduate-assistance-oga\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/academics\/ogsps\/student\/oga\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OGSPS&#8217; Office of Graduate Assistance<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Office of Graduate Assistance (OGA) is available to meet with Purdue University postdocs to assist them in addressing a variety of issues that may arise during the course of a scholar&#8217;s time at the University. Examples of concerns brought to the OGA include, but are not limited to, authorship and intellectual property disputes, mentoring issues, and conflicts of interest. Postdocs are encouraged to report questionable mentoring practices (everything from potential abuse to uncomfortable situations) to the hotline, a separate service contracted by Purdue to handle confidential reporting. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Personal Problem Help<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Center for Healthy Living <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/hr\/CHL\/no-cost_Wellness\/EAP.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Employee Assistance Program<\/a> offers Purdue staff, including postdocs, free on-site counseling for six visits. Sessions are confidential.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hhs.purdue.edu\/about-hhs\/community-resources\/clinics\/psychology-treatment-and-research-clinics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue Psychology Treatment and Research Clinics<\/a>&nbsp;offer mental health assessment and treatment for anyone in the Purdue community. The first session costs $25, and additional services are determined by the individual\u2019s ability to pay.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Purdue Counseling and Psychologocal Services (CAPS) offers postdocs the option to meet with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/caps\/services\/care_management\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Care Management Specialists<\/a>&nbsp;who help connect people to mental health services that are available outside of the University. To schedule an appointment with a Care Management Specialist, call (765) 494\u20136995. *Please note that postdocs are not eligible to receive counseling from CAPS and that appointments with Care Management Specialists will help postdocs find treatment options at other facilities.*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The College of Education offers counseling sessions for staff, including postdocs, to help with a wide variety of personal concerns, such as depression, stress, and relationship difficulties. Counseling appointments are free, although their available sessions fill up quickly. They have free online mental screening tools and resources for finding providers.
