Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs Travel Award Application
Submission Notes
- Applicants MUST BE presenting Purdue Research at the conference or event (oral, poster, etc.)
- Applicants MUST BE officially enrolled in an Interdisciplinary Graduate Program.
- Each Purdue West Lafayette Campus Interdisciplinary graduate student may only submit one application per year.
- Submission deadline is October 15th, 2024.
- Travel must take place between September 1st, 2024 – August 31st, 2025.
- Incomplete applications will NOT be considered for funding, so double-check completion prior to submission.
- Award amounts may vary and will be no more than $1000.
The Office of Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs will follow the Purdue University policy on travel reimbursement.
Application and Essay Guidelines
Essay Prompt
In 500 words or less (excluding title) please describe your research and the importance of attending this conference. Please keep in mind that your application will most likely be reviewed by someone outside your field, thus write for someone who might not be familiar with your subject area.
Essay Formatting Instructions
- All essays should fit on 1 PAGE using 1” margins and size 12 Font
- Any application not formatted correctly will be docked 1 point on the final evaluation
- To assure a double-blind review, DO NOT INCLUDE any identifying information, such as:
- Your name
- Your advisor’s name
- Collaborators’ names
- Save your application essay as a PDF with the following naming scheme:
- Lastname_Firstname_TravelGrant.pdf
- Essays named incorrectly will be docked 1 point on the final evaluation
Letters of Recommendation
Submit a letter of recommendation from your advisor supporting your attendance to the conference or event. Letters should be in pdf format and submitted by the recommender to oigp@purdue.edu.
Resume or CV
Applications must included an updated resume or CV upon submission.
