August 30, 2011 - Changes in Computer Remote Administration

The IT management application used to inventory, deliver software and remote control computers will change in two stages. The first change is how IT service personnel remotely connect to your computer. The primary method will be done by through System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). You will always be asked by IT service personnel beforehand to remotely access your machine and they will need your okay before proceeding. You will see the below window pop up when a remote control session is initiated and you need to click “Yes” to start the session.

As a backup to the SCCM primary remote control method, “Team Viewer” has been deployed to Physfac computers. If this method is to be used, the IT service representative will instruct you to go to your Start-Programs menu to start Team Viewer and walk you through getting the remote control session started.
