Martin C. Jischke International Students of the Year

Each year a selection committe reviews and selects one award recipient from nominations submitted by faculty and staff to receive the Martin C. Jischke International Student of the Year award, “established to annually honor an outstanding international student who has helped the University welcome and connect people of all cultures……”  Each past recipient continues to pursue excellence and leave their mark across the globe, each in a different field – in research, policy, business, engineering, international relations, etc.

Criteria

The Martin C. Jischke Outstanding International Student of the Year Award is presented annually each spring to honor a graduating Purdue undergraduate international student who has helped the University welcome and connect people of all cultures. 
Faculty and staff are invited to nominate students who best fulfill the following requirements:

  • Graduating senior who has attained a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.00 (Graduating senior” is an undergraduate graduating in December 2017, May 2018 or August 2018.)
  • Commitment to Scholarship (academic achievement or recognition in other areas such as research, publications, presentations, etc.)
  • Commitment to Leadership (demonstrated at Purdue through department, student organization or employment affiliation)
  • Commitment to Service (welcomes and connects people of all cultures both on and off campus)
  • Outstanding Character

Dr. Jischke established this award to honor a student who is not only a high academic achiever, but also one who has demonstrated volunteer service connecting people of all cultures.
All nominations must be submitted electronically at 2018 Martin C. Jischke Award Nomination. Three letters of support will be accepted with each nomination. 
A committee of student peers and representatives from across campus will select the award recipient. The recipient will receive a monetary award from the Jischke Endowment and be honored at the CILMAR Awards Reception on April 4, 2018.
