Wildlife Management for Selected Species

Game Species

Endangered species

Many landowners are concerned about endangered and threatened (listed) species. In most cases, the presence of listed species does directly impact the landowners. Several programs exist to assist private landowners in their efforts to manage for listed species. For example, Safe Harbor Agreements allow private and other non-federal landowners to manage their land in a way that restores, enhances, or maintains habitat for rare plants and animals while still meeting other management goals – all without incurring additional land-use restrictions.

The NRCS and Wildlife Habitat Management Institute have produced a series of Fish and Wildlife Habitat Leaflets. View our list of selected leaflets providing detailed information about habitat requirements and appropriate management techniques for species or groups of species.
