Seven years ago, the Purdue Board of Trustees undertook a thorough assessment of the University. Rather than be satisfied with Purdue's outstanding history, the trustees sought to move the University from a position of strength to a higher level of excellence. To accomplish this move, the University needed a strategic plan grounded in its land-grant missions of learning, discovery, and engagement.
The process of evaluation and the resulting answers gave the Trustees the information they needed to set new goals for Purdue and plan for resources.
Purdue's journey, which began in 2000 with the hiring of President Martin C. Jischke, has been filled with many milestones of success during the progression of the University to its current status.
One of the largest milestones has been the creation and success of the $1.5 billion Campaign for Purdue, the largest fundraising campaign in the University's history, which was initiated to raise the necessary funding and support necessary to achieve the strategic plan.
Both the strategic plan and The Campaign for Purdue will end on June 30, 2007. Today, a review of Purdue's fundraising achievements shows that the University has met or exceeded all of the campaign goals.
Thanks in great part to this phenomenal support, a review of Purdue's progress toward its strategic plan goals shows that the University is in a position to achieve these goals by the target completion date.
