Panel on “Discovery” -- Research at Purdue

Learn about research at Purdue as three professors review their groundbreaking results in the fields of oncology, nanoscience /nanotechnology and electric vehicle battery manufacturing.   • Deborah Knapp, Director of the Purdue Comparative Oncology Program Knapp’s presentation will focus on how pet dogs with “spontaneous” cancer hold the keys to making progress in crucial areas of cancer research that will improve the outlook for humans – and dogs – with cancer.   • Gerhard Klimeck, Director of the Network for Computational Nanotechnology Klimeck's presentation will include an update on nanoHUB.org, an NSF-funded, multi-university initiative, operated from Purdue. (PDF of Klimeck's presentation)
  • James Caruthers, Director of the Indiana Advanced Electric Vehicle Training and Education Consortium Caruthers will describe new battery energy-sensing technologies that provide an online picture of anode and cathode manufacturing imperfections, enabling production of more robust batteries. Caruthers will also provide an update on the evGrandPrix at Purdue. In addition, Caruthers will describe a new electronic lab notebook suitable for educational and commercial purposes. Hear a lively exchange as entrepreneurs discuss their challenges and accomplishments in forming start-ups at Purdue Research Park. Panel moderator and interviewer will be Rick Cosier, Director of the Burton Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship.

  • Kyle Bowen, Director of Informatics for Information Technology at Purdue and Co-founder of New Campus Tech, Inc. Bowen’s company develops social media tools such as Hotseat and Mixable, technologies that are changing how students communicate with their instructors and with each other.   • Darryl Dickerson and Eric Nauman, co-founders of BioRegeneration Technologies BioRegeneration Technologies is a startup that develops an all-natural biomaterial product designed to facilitate healing of a damaged joint, restore normal structure and prevent osteoarthritis. Dickerson and Nauman will describe the work of the the non-profit IF Foundation, helping people with disabilities.   • Dennis J.
