Why should I be a member of WBAA?
WBAA Public Radio’s mission is to enrich lives with services and programs that engage, educate, and entertain our community. We realize this mission through a distinctive variety of radio programming. However, we can’t do this alone. Over 80% of our programming expenses are paid annually by the support of our members and corporate supporters. When you become a WBAA member with your financial gift, you join a community of listeners who are directly responsible for keeping radio that matters on the air. Every gift of support counts toward this goal of remaining listener-supported public radio!
As a WBAA member at the $120 level or more, you'll receive our quarterly program guide and newsletter, Program Notes. In addition, we would like to send you a WBAA static window cling, invitations to WBAA special events and activities, and the WBAA MemberCard. There are also a number of thank you gifts to choose from at various membership levels. Most importantly, as a member you support the classical, jazz and acoustic music, in-depth news and information from NPR, and entertainment programming that you value and rely upon every day.
How long does my membership last?
Your WBAA membership is current for 12 months after you make a contribution; we'll send you a renewal letter a few months before that time. However, we always like to extend the opportunity to make an additional gift to the station, therefore, you will receive notices in both spring and fall through the mail. If you think you've received a renewal notice in error, please contact us.
Why did I receive another reminder when I already sent my payment?
Sometimes your payment is credited to your membership file after we send renewal notices or pledge reminders for that month. If your contribution and our reminder cross in the mail, please disregard the reminder and accept our apologies and sincerest thanks for your support. If you are concerned that we did not receive your renewal, please contact us and we'd be happy to look into it.
How do I make a contribution?
The fastest, most convenient way to make a gift to WBAA is to use our online pledge page. If you prefer, you may also mail your gift to WBAA at 712 Third Street, West Lafayette, Indiana 47907-2005, or make a gift by phone by calling (765) 494-5920. Please remember to make all checks payable to Purdue Foundation with WBAA membership in the memo line.
What is the recommended contribution for a WBAA membership?
WBAA friends may make a gift at any level and all donations are greatly appreciated to support our diverse programming. Some members make gifts at the $30, $60, $120, $365, $500, or even $1,000 levels. Please note that if you are able to make a gift at the $120 level and up, you will receive the WBAA MemberCard, our quarterly newsletter Program Notes, and other membership benefits should you choose.
Is my contribution tax-deductible?
Your gift to WBAA is tax-deductible to the extent allowable by U.S. law, minus the fair market value of any thank you gifts you receive. We will send you an acknowledgement letter for your contribution that can be saved for tax purposes. Tax statements are available by request.
How can I get a WBAA window cling for my car?
All new members receive a WBAA static window cling with their gift acknowledgement. If you are already a member and need an additional sticker, please contact us and we will be happy to send you another one! We appreciate your willingness to advocate for the station and share your support of WBAA with others.
My employer participates in the employee matching gift program. How do I enroll?
You may be able to double your donation to WBAA! As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, WBAA is eligible for many employers' Corporate Matching Gifts programs. Simply obtain a matching gift form from your Human Resources Department and send it to WBAA, along with your membership contribution. We encourage you to search our database to see if your company participates in a matching gifts program.
Can I give a WBAA membership as a gift?
Gift memberships are a great way to encourage your friends and family to support their community public radio station! Here is how the program works: please make a gift membership to WBAA in any amount—you make the contribution, and the recipient will receive the benefits and the thank you gift of your choosing as applicable. We will also send the recipient a letter notifying them that they've received a gift membership. To arrange a gift membership, please email us or call (765) 494-5920. Regardless of which method is easiest for you, please remember to let us know the name and address of the gift recipient so we can send them a note. Please remember that if you decide to pledge online to let us know in the comments section that you are making a gift membership so we can process it accordingly.
How can I include WBAA in my estate plans?
A planned gift for WBAA Public Radio can be an outright gift, a life income gift, a charitable bequest, and many other options. Additionally, planned gifts can be made during your lifetime. For detailed information about including WBAA Public Radio in your estate plans visit our estate planning section, or contact Tim Singleton, Station Manager by calling (765) 494-3960 or email tjsingle@wbaa.org.
Will WBAA give out my contact information?
WBAA Public Radio’s policy is to never sell, rent, exchange or give our donor list to any other organization. This policy is consistent with our belief that our donors have placed their financial trust in WBAA. We appreciate and respect your trust and will safeguard that WBAA's donor list will remain confidential.
My Program Notes quarterly newsletter didn't arrive!
If you miss an issue of WBAA’s quarterly newsletter, Program Notes, it may mean that it has been lost in the mail, that we don't have your correct address, or that your membership has expired. Whatever the reason, please give us a call or send an email and we will send you a copy right away and rectify any problems. In the meantime, you can read the latest issue of Program Notes online.
Why did I get two Program Notes?
If you receive two copies of WBAA’s Program Notes or any of our mailings, you may be in our database twice. Please contact us and we will merge the records together so that you just receive one mailing. Thanks for helping WBAA save postage by letting us know of any duplicates in our system!
How can I change my mailing address?
If you move, please contact us with both your old and new mailing addresses so that we can update our records and avoid duplicate records in the future.
I'm moving out of the area. How do I get off your mailing list?
Please contact us when you're moving and ask to have all mailings stopped. Thank you for being part of the WBAA family, and we wish you the best of luck in your new home! We hope you'll continue to support public radio wherever you are.
When will my thank you gift arrive?
If you requested a thank you gift when you made your pledge or contribution, it should arrive within six weeks. If it has been longer than that, please contact us and we'll be happy to investigate. Please keep in mind that we rely on students and volunteers to help us package and ship thank you gifts, and we appreciate your patience.
Help! My thank you gift arrived and it isn’t right/doesn’t fit/is broken!
Of the hundreds of gifts WBAA will ship out after each fund drive, inevitably there will be a product that is damaged, lost, or unexpected. If this happens to you, please let us know about it. We'll mail you a new one right away, and thanks in advance for understanding.
Can I get thank you gifts from past fund drives?
It is sometimes possible to receive thank you gifts from previous pledge drives. To find out if a particular item is available and the corresponding pledge level, please contact us.
I am a payroll deduction or EFT (electronic funds transfer) donor to WBAA. Am I still able to receive thank you gifts and membership benefits?
Absolutely! Just because you don't call in during membership drives, we don't want those of you who contribute on a monthly basis to be left without a proper thank you! As a sustaining member of WBAA, you are eligible to receive one thank you gift per year, based on the amount of your annual contribution. If it's been a year or more since you requested a gift and you hear about something you'd like, please contact us and we'll take care of it.
