About WBAA

WBAA-AM, Indiana's longest continuously operating radio station, received its broadcast license in 1922. WBAA-FM began broadcasting in 1993. The two stations provide Purdue University students with opportunities for hands-on training in radio broadcasting, including credit internships for students majoring in communication and noncredit experience for volunteer announcers, producers, and writers. WBAA-AM and FM provide alternative public radio programming to thousands of mid-central Indiana and east-central Illinois listeners.

Diverse Programming
The radio format of WBAA-AM provides listeners with a diverse program of news, information, public affairs, jazz, folk and other eclectic music. The daytime broadcast radius of WBAA-AM is about 70 miles, making it accessible to more than half the population of the state — almost 2.5 million people.

WBAA-FM concentrates on classical music and fine arts programming. With a broadcast radius of approximately 20 miles, including Tippecanoe and most adjacent counties, WBAA-FM has the potential to reach more than 150,000 listeners.

The Local Angle
WBAA-AM produces and broadcasts original local programming including Acoustic Blend, The Local Music Show, Rainbow, Inside Jazz with Don Seybold, and interviews with University faculty, staff, and campus guests.
