Roger C. Stewart

The Roger C. Stewart Leadership & Professional Development Department is named in honor of Roger Stewart, an alumnus and longtime supporter of students at Purdue University who has supported the continuous development of student leaders through a generous donation. The Roger C. Stewart Leadership & Professional Development Department promotes student success by helping undergraduates learn how to lead in the classroom, workplace and community. Stewart’s connections in industry and on campus have helped further develop opportunities for student learning and growth.

Stewart’s gift has helped fund several key tools that help students recognize and develop their leadership abilities. All first-year students take the CliftonStrengths for Students® assessment to help them determine their innate leadership abilities. The Roger C. Stewart LEAP (Leadership Experience at Purdue) program provides further opportunities for first-year students to begin their leadership and professional development journey on campus. These programs target ongoing student growth in 20 leadership and professional development competencies that can help them succeed in their journeys at Purdue and beyond.

Purdue Student Life thanks Roger C. Stewart for his many contributions and decades of mentorship and renamed the Leadership and Professional Development Initiative to honor Stewart on October 1, 2021. Read the press release that mentions the renaming in this special Board of Trustees edition of Purdue Today here.
