Graduate Administrative Professional in Marketing & Communications

Duties

Perform electronic communications to market and communicate activities and events for the Division of Student Affairs.  This will include maintaining social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, etc. and web sites for Student Affairs, Purdue Parents and Families, PurdueBoard, and the digital display in Schleman Hall.  The graduate staff member will interact with staff, faculty, and students, gathering stories and capturing digital media to develop and launch communications.    

Required Qualifications

  • Earned Bachelor’s degree and admission into a Purdue University graduate program
  • Demonstrated experience with social media management, design using Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator  
  • Superior communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Team oriented, willing to take risks and learn on the job

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate student in Communications or related field
  • Student organization experience and co-curricular activities as an undergraduate student
  • Experience capturing, editing, and publishing video and photos
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, WordPress, Facebook Page Manager, Twitter, SEO, analytics, and keywords

Application Deadline and Contacts

The Graduate Administrative Professional (GAP) is a half-time (20 hours per week) administrative appointment.  This position operates within the Office of Vice President for Student Affairs.  There is a monthly stipend (more information at The Graduate School) for the position, plus tuition remission.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.  The position will begin August 12, 2013 and is a 10-month appointment.
