Cost Calculations for Expenses and Lost Revenue Related to High Risk Drinking
Working with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Student Wellness Office, Risk Management, the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities, University Police Department, the University Fire Department and Housing, the Student Data Steward developed a cost calculator for estimating expenses and lost revenue related to high-risk drinking on Purdue’s campus. The cost to Purdue is over $21 million for 2011-12, a staggering number by any comparison. Furthermore, this figure in no way counts the cost of lost lives, personal illness, injuries, or lost educational or occupational opportunities.
