Jack Karl
What was your position at Purdue before you retired?
Senior Associate Director, Purdue Alumni Association
Why did you become a volunteer for the Welcome Center?
To remain active following retirement and to be continually associated in some way with Purdue
What is the most interesting or funny experience you have had at the kiosk?
I had my picture taken with Drew Brees during Day on Campus. Also, a student asked for directions to Harrison Hall – a freshman who attended BGR. I said, "You’ve been on campus over one week," and the student replied, "I know, but I still get lost."
What do you like most about volunteering at the kiosk?
I like directing prospective students and their parents to various buildings for meetings, and visiting with former colleagues passing through the Union.
Where is your favorite spot on campus?
There are several. The Union because it buzzes with activity plus it's architecture; Slayter Center and the hill for concerts, football pre-game events; the Memorial Mall between classes watching students walking to and from their next class.
